Dr. Fazli Khuda

Ph.D in Pharmaceutics
Research Interest:  Variety is nice when it comes to your diet. But if you take medication, you need to be aware of foods that interact with drugs. Foods contain compounds that can enhance or reduce the effectiveness of common medications. If you're not careful, these interactions can cause dangerous side effects. My interests centre mainly in three areas. To evaluate the pharmacokinetic interactions between food and drugs, development of chromatographic methods and screening of plants for their biological and phytochemical properties

My academic interest in Pharmacy began when I was an undergraduate at Government Postgraduate College, Charsadda. In particular, a semester in Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan inspired me to join this profession. I received my Pharm D degree from Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar in 2006 with distinction. Joined Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar as Lecturer in 2007, then completed my M.Phil degree in Pharmaceutics at Peshawar University in 2010, with a focus on topical preparations from crude extracts of various plants. I had been interested in drug-food interaction studies since I was a Pharm D student. I pursued those interests and also got involved with the biopharmaceutics lab, which has shaped my career. I earned Ph.D degree in pharmaceutics in 2015. My work today focuses upon teaching and research in the areas of drug-food interaction, chromatographic method development and phytochemical screening of plants. Drug-food interaction is a potential area for research; these interactions can alter the pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics of a drug which may be clinically important if it results in sub therapeutic plasma levels. University of Peshawar is one of the best universities in the country and I really love teaching here.
