  • How has displacement affected economies undergoing crises?
  • How do displacement-affected communities develop coping strategies to deal with the crises?
  • How the livelihoods of displacement-affected communities are shaped and reshaped by crises?
  • How financial and non-financial transactions are carried out in displacement-affected economies?
  • To what extent do displacement-affected communities make use of mutual aid and care exchange?
  • How do women contribute to their livelihoods and how do they provide care and mutual support in displacement-affected economies?
  • How do formality and informality play out in displacement-affected economies?
  • Who plays as intermediary in displacement-affected economies?
  • Are there patterns of social and economic integration more generally and specifically?

 

The conference will be hosted by the Migration Research Cell of the Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar in collaboration with the University of Sussex on the campus of the University of Peshawar on 8th May 2024.

We request abstracts of not more than 300 words. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 25 April 2024. The committee will announce decisions by 27th April 2024. The organizers cannot fund international travel however, all presenters will be provided with free local transport, accommodation, and meals during the conference. The conference is funded by UK Research and Innovation through the Global Challenges Research Fund (Grant Ref no ES/T0004509/1) under the ‘Protracted Displacement Economies’ project.
