Speakers in a Condolence reference held to pay homage to the tremendous literacy services rendered by Prof. Dr. Ghulam Taqi Bangash (late) and have termed the death of the legendry historian as great loss to the nation. They said that the former Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Chairman Department of History was one of the first PhD faculties of the University of Peshawar and the initiation of research culture in varsities, especially in the humanities and social sciences goes to his credit.
Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan, Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Adnan Sarwar, Chairman Department of History Prof. Dr. Taj Muharram, Registrar Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi were amongst those present in the reference.
Sharing his thoughts on the moment, the Vice Chancellor said that the historian was a vocal and a learned man who wrote several books on the true natural past of this region and the University campus itself. He added that late Dr. Taqi Bangash was great lover of democracy and raised his voice against unjust decisions during Zia`s era specifically.
Dr. Jamil , Dr. Javed Iqbal and others also expressed their views on the occasion. Later a joint dua was offered for his departed soul.
