Two Day National Workshop on Recent Advances and New Horizons in Chemistry Kicked Off at the University of Peshawar


The two day national conference on recent advances and new horizons in chemistry was held at the Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Auditorium Hall of the University of Peshawar. The workshop is aimed at exploring new horizon in the field of chemistry with specific reference to Nano Technology, Material and Environmental Sciences, Chematography and Spectroscopic techniques. More than two hundred chemists and scientists of almost all the Universities and research institutions of Pakistan are participating in moot.

Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. He was accompanied by Registrar Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi and Director Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry Prof. Dr. Saleem.

All sciences revolves around Chemistry and it would not be wrong to say that chemistry is the mother of all sciences, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan on the occasion. He added that theory guides and experiment decides and it was important for the young scholars to learn new things by participating in the interactive sessions in conferences and workshops like this.

Producing quality graduates are the aim of varsity, and that we can achieve by filling gap between the University and industry, he maintained.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the National Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry for organizing the event. He congratulated the staff of the centre for being declared as the best Centre of Excellence in the whole country this year.

Earlier the Director of the Centre in his introductory remarks said that the centre has produced 90 PhDs and 280 M. Phils. He added scientists of the ceentre have written more than 600 research papers till date.

The speakers of the day included Dr. Irshad Hussain of LUMS, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid of Agricultural University Faisalabad and Prof. Dr. Fida Muhammad of G. I. K.
