UoP Ink MoU with PLAN International for Eradication of Child Labor


In a move to eradicate child labor and offer quality education to the underprivileged class the University of Peshawar has decided to offer free education to the out of school children  in its constituent schools, i.e: the University Public School and University Model School.

This was revealed by the Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan after an MoU signing ceremony between the University of Peshawar and an INGO, PLAN. ``I personally feel in great pain when a child who was to be at school is forced to labor and earn a piece of bread for their family, said Dr. Rasul Jan on the occasion.  

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by VC UoP and Country Manager Farrah Naz in a ceremony held in varsity.

The MoU is to remain effective for a period of three years in which the partnering organizations will explore potential mutual beneficial research and community based projects, besides developing appropriate communication linkages to facilitate information transfer. The key component of the agreement would include Students orientation, Training of PLAN Staff in Social research, knowledge sharing and internship for the students of the Department of Sociology.

Our organization work with partners for children and youth rights and there could not have been a much better organization than University of Peshawar to achieve this  goal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Country Manager PLAN Ms. Farrah Naz. She added her organization will support the quest of UoP to eradicate the menace of child labor from this province and FATA.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman Department of Sociology Prof. Dr. Niaz, Dr. Noor Sanauddin and other representatives from both sides.
