Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam speaks on “CPEC” at Sahaheed Benzir University Sharingal

Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam, Director, Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar delivered key note address in a seminar, on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at  Sahaheed Benazir University Sharingal. The seminar was attended by a large number of faculty members and students belonging to various departments. Dr. Fakhar gave a background and details of the project. He paid tribute to Chinese nation for providing opportunity to Pakistan. He said that the project may usher a new era of prosperity in Pakistan provided our leadership execute it with wisdom and statesmanship. He said that the CPEC has both problems and prospects. He said that the ruling party, should take all stake holders on board. The regional forces, on the other hand, though have the right to launch a campaign but they should refrain from  making the project controversial. He said that CPEC has both internal and external challenges.  The neighboring countries may not tolerate it and they have already voiced their concerns. The Indian Prime Minister took up the issue with Chinese President directly.  The insurgency in Balochistan and terrorist activities all over the country, have a link with the project. He said that we need a far sighted leadership to face both internal and external challenges and make it a success. Prof. Muhammad Nawaz Khan, Provost and Prof. Bakht Zada Danish also spoke on the occasion.
