Rich tributes were paid to the renowned Pashto poet, writer and intellectual late Dr. Jahanzeb Niaz on the occasion of his 5th anniversary


Rich tributes were paid to the renowned Pashto poet, writer and intellectual late Dr. Jahanzeb Niaz on the occasion of his 5th anniversary at Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar.

Delegates from parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated and read out papers on the life and services of Prof Jahanzeb Niaz, the former chairman of Pashto department, University of Peshawar.

The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran in a melodious voice of Qari Bahadur Safi. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Kazim Niaz son of late Prof. Dr. Jahanzeb Niaz also participated in the event. On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid presented his book to the Chief Secretary, Dr. Kazim Khan Niaz. The event was organized by University of Peshawar in collaboration with Prof Jahanzeb Niaz Foundation, Rajjar, Charsadda.

Renowned poets, writers and intellectuals including Habib Ullah Khan Ex Federal Secretary, Hamesh Khalil (Senior Poet and Writer), Prof Dr Salma Shaheen (Ex Director Pushto Academy), Laiqzada Laiq Ex Station Director PBC, Aseer Mangel(Poet and Writer) , Prof Dr Hamayun Huma, Sana Ullah, Aman Ullah Nusrat, Prof Dr Ismail Gohar, Prof Dr Hanif Khalil, Prof Dr Farkhanda Liaqat (Pashto Academy) , Dr Ahmad Ali Ajiz, Dr Afsar Bakhshali, and Prof Dr Rooh Ullah attended the event.

The responsibility of stage secretary fulfilled by Dr Alam, Hamid Ur Rehman Nadan, and Amjad Ali Khadim. Five 'Prof Jahanzeb Awards' were given to Amjad Ali Khadim, Rokhan Yousafzai,  Shakirzeb, Zaman Zaheer and Fahad Ihsas for the best services in their respective field while cash award Rs 10,000 each was also given to 10 needy position holder- students of  Government Girls High School Rajar, Charasadda. Hamish Khalil was given life achievement award on the occasion.

At the end, Mirwais Niaz, son of the late Prof. Dr. Jahanzeb Niaz, thanked the participants and the organizers of the program.
