Vacancy: Research Assistant (Part-Time)


We are searching qualified candidates to work as Research Assistants on the research project ‘The Power of Ideas: Muslim Humanitarian Actors and the SDGs’. The project is a collaboration between the Department of Political Science/University of Peshawar and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), Norway. We are looking for candidates that take an interest in the thematic, have experience from qualitative research, can work independently, efficiently and deliver on time.

Duration of assignment:

3 months of work during the period 16 November 2020 – 15 January 2021.

Place of Work:

Peshawar-based, with some domestic travel for fieldwork.

The Research Assistant will report to Professor Abdul Rauf, Department of Political Science.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collect, review and synthesize relevant literature
  • Prepare and facilitate fieldwork
  • Conduct, translate and transcribe interviews (from Urdu/ Pashtu to English)
  • Collect and analyses text (policy material, reports, media and SoMe)
  • Coding of interview data/taking part in data analysis
  • Arrange and participate in meetings

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Enrolled in M.Phil/Ph d. programme at the University of Peshawar
  • Social science background
  • Experience with qualitative research methods
  • Fluency in Urdu and English
  • Excellent writing skills
