Election Commission and Pakistan Study Centre hold joint seminar

The Election Commission and Pakistan Study Centre held a joint seminar on “The Role of Election Commission in Strengthening of Democracy”. Director General Election Commission of Pakistan Nighat Siddique, Election Commission KP chief Pir Maqbool Ahmad, Haroon Khan Shinwari and Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Dr Fakhr-ul-Islam spoke on the occasion.

 Dr. Fakhar said that Election Commission is a constitutional body and it was a privilege for his center to work with it. He paid rich tribute to EC for its role and  recently introduced reforms. Director General Election Commission of Pakistan Nighat Siddique thanked Pakistan study Centre for putting voluntary services of its students at the disposal of EC. She stressed the need of providing facilities to women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups to participate freely in the electoral process. 

 

Pri Maqbool Ahmad Election Commissioner KP said that due to its exemplary performance, ECP has been declared as one of the best commissions in the world. Harun Khan Shinwari Gender Coordinator EC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that 30 female students of Pakistan Study Centre have completed their training as Volunteers of ECP. They will play a proactive role in the forthcoming elections. Dr. Khan Faqir, Focal Person of Volunteer Program presented a report on the functioning of Corp of Volunteers.
