Research Interest:

Heterogeneous Catalysis, Photocatalysis: Catalysis by metals and metal oxides for oxidation and hydrogenation/dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons. Photo assisted reactions at gas/solid and liquid/solid interfaces. Activated Carbon from Agricultural waste.  Characterization of activated carbon for pollution control prepared from agricultural waste material.

Research Experience

  1. Research Supervisor and in charge Heterogeneous Catalysis Laboratory (January 1986-to-Date) of NCE in Physical Chemistry, University of Peshawar. 7 Ph.D. and 16 M.Phil projects have been successfully completed under my supervision, while 4 Ph.D. and 2 M.Phil projects are under progress. (Details attached on separate sheet.)
  2. Post-doctoral Fellow (January 1983-January 1986) at the Department of Chemistry, The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada, under the supervision of Professor Paul deMayo (Surface Photochemistry Group). The project was on photochemistry of adsorbed molecules on semiconductor surfaces.
  3. Post Graduate Research Fellow (October 1979-January 1983), Department of Chemistry, University College Cork, Ireland, under the Supervision of Professor Joseph Cunningham (Heterogeneous Catalysis Group). Topic of investigation was studies of elimination reaction at gas-solid interface catalyzed by transition metal and its oxides.
  4. Research Fellow (March 1977-September 1979) NCE in Physical Chemistry, University of Peshawar under the supervision of Professor Lutfullah (Electrochemistry Group). Topic of investigation was” The Polarographic behaviour of normal and cancerous blood sera”.
