Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar has teamed up with University of Sussex, UK on a three-year research project titled “Protracted Displacement Economies”, looking at informal support systems, mutual aid including non-monetary aid such as services and bartering, and the role and perception of community-based organizations in communities that have witnessed several waves of displacement and migration. The project looks at all groups within these ‘displacement-affected’ communities, including 'host' communities.

As part of this project we are hosting an intensive 10-day creative documentary filmmaking workshop for 6 emerging filmmakers from around Peshawar. The training aims to empower participants with the creative and practical tools needed to examine their diverse experiences and different realities of the communities they live in.

Filmmakers will be supported to develop their skills and they will work in small teams to develop and produce a short creative documentary film that reflects the themes of displacement-affected communities. The workshops will include a combination of seminars and mentor-led advice sessions. You will work in 2 teams of 3 people to make a film. By the end of the workshop, films will have been filmed and edited. This is a hands on and very intensive workshop where participants will need to commit to it full time during the duration of the workshop.
