Graduating students are ambassadors and alumnus of University of Peshawar: VC UoP. First-ever BS convocation of UoP confers 21 gold medals and 193 degrees


(Peshawar): The much awaited Bachelor Studies convocation of 2009-13 and 2010-14 batches, University of Peshawar  have conferred 193 degrees and 21 gold medals to graduating students on Saturday at the main convocation hall. The Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan graced the occasion after honorable chief guest Governor/Chancellor Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra couldn’t make it to event due to official pressing engagements.

A total of 18 disciplines degrees were conferred in the event. According to statistics available, BS students hailing from Arts & Design(04), Biotechnology(15), Microbiology(10), Botany(11), Environmental sciences(07), Geography(01), Geology(02), zoology(05), Management Studies(38), Commerce(20), Computer sciences(29), Electronics(10), Mathematics(06), physics(04), Statistics(01), Economics(08), Psychology(11), Sociology(07) and Education(04).

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar Prof.Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan has called upon students to become ambassadors for University of Peshawar to serve society, country and humanity at large. The VC further said that University of Peshawar is the legacy trustee of the founding fathers of Pakistan Quaid -e -Azam and Allama Muhamamd  Iqbal. He said that thinker of Pakistan in a resolution at Punjab legislative assembly session in 1928, envisioned the creation of University of Peshawar.

The Vice chancellor University of Peshawar while talking to students, parents and academia said that during last five months under his command that has been largely spent on the reorganization of structures at University of Peshawar. The prominent among those are 44 crores investment on labs expansion, initiation of Incubation centre, Centre of Mathematical Sciences, grievance redressal, and re-modeling of ORIC/QEC departments.

He said that a Task force is working to cope with the financial deficit of the University of Peshawar. He said that administration is working on war footing to develop Campus Management System to give one window solution to students and to get rid of cumbersome paper work in vogue.

The Gold medalists students of the BS batches were also given cash prizes.

The Vice chancellor thanked all the administrative and faculty staff who were part of Convocation committee and especially Dean of Life and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad for his spirited services in short spans of time.
